Hippies with Frisbees
Hey, everyone remember Josh Caras? I just recently received an email about him. He's featured in an independent film called Bugcrush. If you're interested, please follow the link for more information. He does mention YPI about halfway through the article. I hope some people find this interesting!|
you have to log in to get it (since its a day old now)...any way you could simply copy & paste the text?
Oh, wow... sorry about that. Yeah, here's the part that he mentions YPI, because the whole thing is pretty long to copy and paste.
...For a while, however, Josh had no offers to act either in film or on the stage. He maintained a lively interest in the arts, however, through a summer program at Westover School in Middlebury called Young People's Institute. Josh attended every summer, he says, from when he was 11 to his senior year in high school.
"It's a really interesting place, and you take pretty rigorous classes in the arts," he says. Initially, Josh did not concentrate on acting but took classes in drawing, painting, and writing.
Finally, he signed up for an acting class and he was hooked.
"The whole thing made sense for me. The teacher, Malachi Weir, was a very calm guy and he was looking for a kind of honesty," Josh says.
Weir's management company had alerted him to look for students with acting potential, and Weir told them about Josh. The company began to set up auditions for Josh, for acting parts not only in film but also in television and in commercials
"I think Jewish parents care very much about education," said Rachel Bashevkin, assistant director of studies at Westover School, an all-girl institution in Middlebury.
